Filming The Terror With James Balsamo

James Balsamo is an absolute inspiration to this whole operation I run here. This guy wears all of the hats; directing, screenplay writing, acting, and so much more. At Mad Monster Expo I was lucky enough to grab him for a brief moment and ask him a few questions. He is a genuinely great person who inspired me. I cannot say this enough. So, this is the legendary interview with a legendary member of the horror community.

Could you tell us a little about yourself and the work you do?

Hey everybody, James Balsamo here. CEO of Acid Bath Productions. If you are unfamiliar with my stuff I’ve produced over FOURTY MOVIES! What are you waiting for? Open your fucking eyes! I’m a fucking living legend! Who else makes crazy movies with awesome celebrities? You fucks, how do you not know who I am?

What would you say are your top three favorite horror films?

The Suckling, amazing movie. Mutant monster baby, if you haven’t seen it. Street Trash, written by Roy Frumkes, who is also in my movie Bite School. It’s fang-tastic. I gotta also go with Terror-Vision, directed by Ted Nicolaou, who is also in my movie: Cool As Hell. First on screen appearance. You know why I got him? Because I’m amazing.

Leatherface Versus Michael Myers, who would win and why?

What Leatherface from what franchise is going to make all the difference in that question, and what Michael Myers.

We’ll just go with the original in both franchises.

Okay, well, in the original Michael Myers there are a few people who play Michael Myers so if it’s Leatherface on three guys, Michael Myers might have it. But, if it’s one on one, my boy Bubbas gonna take him. The saw is family.

Do you believe that the horror scene is dead and dry, or do you think its in a golden age? Why?

Yeah, we are in a golden age because I’m making movies. Fuck yeah. Go to jamesbalsamo.com and check them out. They got gore and celebrities. I’m making a movie with Weird Al and Coolio fighting to the DEATH. It’s called It Wants Blood 2. Doesn’t get any golder than that.

What inspired you to make movies?

So after I saw Friday the 13th Part 3 and that poor unfortunate girl got on the meathook, that’s all I ever wanted to do. I wanted to be the guy behind the mask and murder beautiful women. So, I did that. I started a film company and I’ve been mutilating people for over a decade.

To those wanting to make films but have never done this before and are just getting started, what tidbits of advice can you give to them?

Pick up a camera, go out there, and make a movie. Don’t let money or “you can’t do it” hold you back. You know what I mean? Don’t let anything stop you. You’re the one weaving this web in this reality. Go out there, meet celebrities, meet whoever you want. Just talk to people and be friendly and you can make a movie too. If not fourty like me.

How would you define success?

I’m being interviewed right here while I’m selling my wares. This is it. This is living the dream.

What can fans look forward to when it comes to Acid Bath Productions?

Yeah, so out now Alien Danger One, and Two. It’s got John Landis in it, Rob Halford from Judas Priest, Tommy Chong, and so many incredible people. Go check it out, it’s insane. Judas Priest has robots that fight GWAR in it. It’s crazy. Check it out at jamesbalsamo.com, or go to Walmart, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble. Also find me. I want to be your friend. Let’s make a movie together!
